Following from the pink an purple illustration styles I developed from my illustrations experiments I created a series of drawings using procreate to represent relaxation and comfort to be placed with the adobe aero experience in the pink/purple Hanoi Hannah room.
I wanted to include some more Vietnamese visuals as this I felt was lacking within my outcomes so far. Even though it was war, the environment was stlll within vietnam and the conflict of war visuals to beautiful illustrations and classic soothing landscapes is a juxtaposition I think is effective
- followed the smooth contour lines from my illustration research

the colour palette could also
represent not just feminity ( pink ) and comfort
and calm ( purple ) but attraction ( pink again ) as many
of the soldiers felt attraction towards Hanoi Hannahs

nostalgia : a sentimental longing or wistful affection for a period in the past:.
I common propaganda technique of Hanoi Hannahs was to remind the american soldiers of their home, by playing american popular songs of the time to remind them of the comfort of being home and why they should retreat.
I wanted to play on this concept for the Hanoi Hannah room and research into popular 1970s american cartoons, as childhood is for most the biggest comfort and where lies the most nostalgia and happiness. Cartoons within a installation about war is the last thing you would expect, therefore creating a conflict within the exhibiton.
all drawn through procreate,
ive always loved illustrating so this was a very enjoyable experience for me
Sabrina and the Groovie Goolies, The Funky Phantom, The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show, The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan, Fred Flintstone and Friends, Sabrina the teenage witch
I funny route that I took briefly purely because I felt it was funny. I decided to use my Vietnamese pink movies research to subliminally include within the adobe aero experience to show female empowerment as this is a key film within this Vietnamese genre. Something to represent really the ' out of the ordinary ' influence Hanoi Hannah had as female, especially within the 70s.
I wanted to experiment with another illustration style: I have created pixel drawings before and I really enjoy how they look. This fits less into the smooth calm feeling of the other illustration style, but I chose to draw Vietnamese propaganda imagery and Vietnamese symbols that translate to " Hanoi Hannah in colour theory ". I felt pixels represent the confusion and fragmentation of thought propaganda triggers and a good contrast within the adobe aero experience that I can place in there so constantly the viewer is slightly confused and surprised.
initially these drawings were going to be used within my moving image projected outcomes. Hence the rainbow colour palette. However I felt they were more impactful within the adobe aero experience. However, above are some experiments I did with the colour palette and backgrounds, as my initial idea was to continue to make these into posters for the exhibition. However I chose to go down another routed for the promotional side
